Slice of Life: 3/26

A few years ago, Louis and I opened a baseball training facility: Frozen Ropes, here in Oakville. We saw a need in the community and filled it. As a result we have a ton of stories: good, bad and ugly, though mostly good, of our past three and a half years and thousands of kids who have gone through our doors.

Today, Louis went to sign a hiring contract with his new employer.

Frozen Ropes, sadly, closes at the end of April, when all of the team contracts expire. Life is all about experiences and this certainly has been quite an adventure!

DYL: Emphasis Assignment 2

Again, using the sketch provided, the idea is to have a 4x6 photo stand out as well as use a number of photos on a 2-page layout. In my effort to not constantly print off photos, I'm trying to use up what I've already printed! So, though I may not have ever used the statue photo as a "focal point" of a layout, I think putting the title on the photo itself adds to the impact of the layout but takes away from the fact it's a really crappy photo - I hope!

DYL: Real World Colour Assignment 2

To start, I have a confession, this assignment was supposed to use other colours - Cathy's real world, not Lee's real world. So, I'll get to Cathy's world later! Her world, this week, is pink, orange and brown. My world, this week, is green, brown and red: the colours of this course!

I was thrilled to get an opportunity to scrapbook a couple of photos I had taken of Claire and Louis a couple of months ago. We are using yet another size: an 8x8 double page spread. What do you think?

DYL: Real World Colour Assignment 1

Colour is an integral part of design. During the first week we were surprised (and I was delighted) to get a colour assignment. In this exercise we are given the colours and the sketch. It was somewhat uncomfortable as this was the very first time I made an 8 1/2 x 11 layout. My first attempt was a 2-page layout (of course, I really do not follow direction!) but then I felt like I had "cheated" so I went back and made a second layout more closely following the instructions!
