(At around 5:30PM I found myself at Philthy McNasty's on Speers for a glass of wine, some food and good company. It was the almost-end of a activity-packed day.)
My day started waking Louis from a sound sleep at 6:34AM. At that point he was 4 minutes late being to the rink! Yes, Louis often finds himself awaking from slumber in the big chair in front of the TV - I'm learning this is not an unfamiliar event in many homes :)
I took Caden for his game at 8AM then found my way to Scrapfest in Oshawa. An hour of appreciated silence was savoured in the truck. I enjoyed the colours of autumn and the bright morning sunshine. Had there not been a line of cars behind me would have stopped on the side of the road to collect many glorious photos!
Once I went through the maze that is the Durham College parking lot and finally located a sign that said "Scrapfest" I let out a big sigh of relief. I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I wasn't any more. After all, could I have driven over an hour for nothing? It's a terrible sensation thinking you are in the wrong place!
I was overjoyed to have a chance to meet two ladies I find incredibly kind and inspiring: Sue Sykes and Lori Mancini:
I look forward to getting to know them better in the future and we're already cooking up ways to make that happen. In actual fact, Sue and I who had never met before today, but have known each other for ages, made plans within seconds!
I don't know how much I spent, not much more than $100, but I did find some nice stuff, not just for my December Daily (my current focus) but a few other projects as well. I'm liking the direction I'm taking ... in my head, anyway.
I left Oshawa way later than planned! The plan was to be gone by 1PM and it was past 2PM when I got to the parking lot! Not only that but ALL FOUR LANES of the 407 were shut down (just past the 400 exit) for some reason. (I hate to think anyone was hurt!) This had me getting off the highway in an unfamiliar area of town in an effort to get to Cole's game on time.
For the directionally challenged, like myself, this was stressful.
Combine that with the knowledge that I had two kids at home fending for themselves, Cole had been dropped off at the rink for his game, Louis was at another rink supervising, Claire was with the boyfriend, and my blackberry was chirping, blinging and ringing and I did all I could to resist the urge to answer and put everything in place. Until I cheated. At a long light (Islington & 401) I answered an e-mail, a text and called home. All was well. No worries, I got a finger wag from a driver in another car, * shame * and rest assured I did put the bb down when I started moving again. Hey? It was crazy!
Louis got Claire and Oskar and I met them at River Oaks at the exact same time.
We got to Cole's game with 3 minutes left in the first period. The score was already tied 1-1. We found out that Grey Bruce was originally up 1-0. Oops! It was an odd game, a bit discombobulated. I was thrilled when this happened:

Cole (#55) got his first goal in AAA. It was a hard shot from the point that really shouldn't have gone in and was pretty ugly, but hey, it was a goal, right?
Peel him from the ceiling he was so excited. Totally pumped.
Eventually the game ended with a score of 5-2 for our Rangers. The call-ups did really well and were a great contribution to the team. Apparently Grey-Bruce had a whole new team and I have to say they are very good. As for me? I'm just happy Claire did my communications job and I could just watch for a change.
Until she and Oskar wanted to leave. Immediately. He had to get home for dinner with his family and well, what was I to say? So he was delivered. The team was meeting at Philthy McNasty's for a team dinner so we headed down there.
It was at that point I realized I had consumed a cup of coffee and two cookies all day long. I was famished. Before anyone arrived I had a salad, chicken fingers and a glass of wine. Ah. Life is good.
While I was enjoying my nourishment Claire was busy making plans, aka texting like a crazed teenager, um, okay, texting, and the plan was to go to a movie with the boy. After dinner. Food inhaled. A few photos taken:

and we were off. Boy collected and then they were delivered to the theatre to watch a movie. What movie? I have no idea. He wants to see "The Town", she wants to see "Easy A", if they can't agree, they're going to see Jackass 3D. I hope they can agree!!
That brings us to now. I'm now home and I've hugged my poor neglected youngers. A load is in the dishwasher and in the washer. I received a call that Cole ordered a 24oz hamburger - which, if he eats - in 7 minutes - it is FREE. Ugh. I'm thinking maybe I should not have left!
The beauty of Facebook:
At some point soon Claire will be collected, Oskar will be delivered, Cole will drink a dose of ENO, Chloe will turn off the TV, Caden will stop reading stats, Louis will do yet more work for MOHA and I will organize all of my new scrapbook goodies.
A full day.
Thankfully they're not all this full, but occasionally they're kind of fun. Spread out. At least a few days in between!
I hope you had a wonderful Saturday! If not full, at least fulfilling :)
(ETA: Cole did not eat the whole burger: he left about three bites. To add insult to injury, there is, apparently, a video of the whole episode - including puking - on YouTube, but I can't find the link. I am thankful for small mercies!)
