CHANGE THE SCENERY
It used to be that I could go for days without talking to another adult. Those days are done!
The assignment: How do you like to change the scenery? Where do you like to go?
My day works in alignment with the school day, which around here goes from 8AM to 5PM on most days. I have split my days in half. My mornings are spent writing, creating and meditating; my afternoons are spent moving and socializing. I have a hard time remembering life without reformer Pilates, Kundalini meditation, yoga flow and Yame Sushi on Kerr! Those wonderful teachers and people new to my life. Far from the "skinny bitches" I was lead to believe populated places like spas and yoga studios. Okay, there are a few and competition can be found everywhere, but they do not represent the majority, or the mindset.
Weekday evenings bring something different, but there is an awful lot more socializing and engaging with adults than ever before. I have some fabulous veteran friends whom I love and greatly appreciate. I've also made an effort to build a tribe of new friends who are friends out of desire and not out of habit. It's been wonderful.
I enjoy people who like who I am. I enjoy people who challenge me. Those who bring something new to the table. Someone not afraid to stand up for their beliefs - not to change mine, but to represent theirs in politics, religion, parenting, all the hot-button topics. The key is respect and kindness.
The days of snearing judgement are gone and all of those (many) who brought that negative and mean-spirited energy are gone, too. My scenery has completely changed because my mindset has changed. I am confident and, though still tempered with reality and careful consideration, I smile and laugh a lot more.

Like Bree Hester, I believe you choose to be happy. Sure there are bad (out of your control) things that happen, but how you handle them is completely up to you. Your choices are your responsibility - there is no blame, no shame, no nothing but accountability. Your attitude is your decision. I choose to be happy. Happy within the context of not wearing the proverbial rose-coloured glasses or any expectation that those who populate my life have made the same choice :) Last October, Bree put together 31 DAYS TO A HAPPIER YOU and, armed with her PDF, I'm using March - that dreary time between winter and spring that seems to drag on forever - to make the conscious choice to be happy every day this month!
