Our worries about the weather were put aside when the sun came out in the morning and blazed all day long! My kids found their grade bands and made themselves as comfortable as they could for the Closing Ceremonies of their school.
Somewhere in the sea of uniforms are my kids:
While I sat on the hill with Wanda, listening to (seemingly) endless speeches and graduates (the largest class in the history of the school), I tried to find my children, eventually locating Claire with her friends:
Cole was just a mop of thick dark hair and broad shoulders, happily sitting with his buddies, to the far right and outside the frame of this shot.
The surprise of the day? Hearing Chloé's name called for the Middle School Arts award. Huh? YAY!! You could hear Cole and Claire cheering and clapping all over the campus! I love that they support each other with such spirit and enthusiasm.
Chloé won for Grade 7 and her friend won for Grade 8. They'll switch off the cup around Christmas time. I love that Chloé's name will go right beside her brother's name! My kids really rock Grade 7. The pressure is now on Caden for next year and to convince them all to rock through to Grade 12 :S
So proud of my Moe!
The best part of the day, in addition to Chloé earning Optimates (Honours) and the Arts award, was the treat of a brilliant Valedictory address by Justin Samardzik, the Academics Prefect. I've known Justin since he was about six years old and am so very proud of him and the brilliant words he chose to close out the Centennial Year of the school.
Time to enjoy the next few weeks and recharge knowing it all starts again on September 10!
