The third term has begun.
Spring Break is over and we've taken the last couple of days to savour all of the goodness of our break, share the fun stories and recover from any residual jet lag. It was a very busy three weeks:
My boys went to spend some time in Florida with Grampy and Nanna. They learned some golf, visited with some loggerhead turtles, met some fascinating characters, swam every day and ate incredibly tasty food!
Claire and 20 of her classmates went (a day late due to Air Canada work-to-rule nonsense) on a senior arts trip to Europe with stops in London, Paris, Milan, Florence, Rome, Vatican City and Pompeii with a return flight through Munich.
Chloé joined me and a friend on a trip to Las Vegas where we saw a show, visited animals and walked (and walked, and walked). It was wonderful.
Along the way we ran into some events that make our everyday lives full: startling coincidences found on Facebook, leaky water connections, school started (for one), cancelled midnight movie showings, relationships end, software was updated, new appliances greatly appreciated, digital photos purged, hockey season ended, Hunger Games watched - sometimes twice!, football season began, the daughter still wants to drive the truck (eek!), plans are made to go back to the desert, an iPad3 was purchased and forms were completed.
As of 8:45AM today, I will be alone with my thoughts - and plenty to catch up on!
Onward! We are all looking forward to plenty of good stuff!
CLAIRE: will be attending "evaluations" for Little League baseball this weekend. After a too-long absence, she is anxious to return to baseball this Spring. In addition to that she will be playing for her school softball team. I am looking forward to seeing her perform in Rent after endless hours of rehearsal. That's the "fun" stuff. Her focus continues to be on her studies and she has a couple of marks she needs to concentrate on in order to get the average she wants going into her graduating year next year.
COLE: will be heading off to the rugby pitch to play for the local Crusaders team - he will also participate on his school team. He's also been asked to help coach the D-Line for his brother's football team. Cole enjoyed football and is more than willing to assist - especially with fitness drills! He is indulging in his newfound love for acting and it's a joy to pick him up after his classes. I am doing my best to focus on all that is good for Cole this year.
CHLOE: is finishing up her year with the Oakville Children's Choir. As Lead Alto she's had a lot to do but has asked to move onto other musical pursuits. She'll continue private voice lessons with Janet, but may join Cole over at West End to round things out. Her plan was to be in the Middle School play and had actually made it to the final cut, but ended up moving to the chorus. I've advised her to go onto "tech crew" and learn how things go behind the scenes.
CADEN: has just finished hockey and it couldn't happen soon enough - it was the first year of "hitting" and all it did was confirm my belief that it should be something inherent to the game from the start. An "introduction" makes it a far bigger deal and it really shouldn't be. He's working hard at school to make the transition to Appleby as easy as possible. This Spring he'll be playing football - with his brother as assistant coach. This should be interesting!
MAMA: has endless hours in the truck! That and many photos to edit, in my near future.
What about you? Anything planned for Spring?
