01. So nice to see an empty bed, instead of a tired boy, first thing in the morning. Happy not to have to cajole him out of bed! A good start :)
02. One thing knocked off the list. The stovetop is finally clean. Really clean.
03. The maple tree is bursting with leaves. For the last four years it has always been the last tree to bud, this year? Ah, it's the little surprises that make you smile.
04. Even all this laundry got done. Four loads today.
05. Mid-day it was drizzly, the begonias we planted on the weekend were happy for the rain.
06. Once the rain stopped I was able to do more scraping of paint. This is proving to be a very big job.
07. Home from school and all showered up. Chloe's extra time is spent watching a movie and snacking on popcorn.
08. You have to love a girl who spends her time studying for her year-end exams in Mid-May. Even better, she is colour coding her notes. Who does that?
09. The beginnings of our pasta sauce: olive oil, fresh garlic, spinach, roma tomatoes - just waiting for goat cheese and farfalle.
10. Of Mice and Men is what Cole is reading in English. Who knew I didn't have a copy? Who knew I couldn't just download it onto my iPad? A trip to Chapters ... which means over $50 in books! We got a copy of East of Eden (Steinbeck's favourite work) and Catcher in the Rye (the timing feels right). My boy is growing up. We even talked about the mythology of the Bible in the car. He is really growing up.
11. We went off to the Rugby Pitch to wait on Caden and his team. This was their second practice and Caden's second practice - ever. He was a joy to watch.
12. Well, after the results tonight, all I can hope is that sweet and talented James flourishes in his loss. After all, aren't the best lessons learned through disappointment?
