Have you ever visited over at Positively Present? On a regular basis I receive little bits of positivity into my reader which are always welcome and inspiring. A while back there was a great pimer for those beginning their journey to practice positivity and an equally great refresher for those of us practicing and need a bit of a reminder. It was the to-do list for living a positive life. I think she nailed it.
I am often in situations where I am surrounded by negative and destructive energy, I do my utter best to hold true to what works for me, and included in that is my effort to maintain a hard-earned positive perspective. Every once in a while I appreciate a little check in:
01. Stop doing the things that make you unhappy.
02. Surround yourself with people who bring you up - not down.
03. Invest some serious time in self-love and soul searching.
04. Spend your time doing the things you love to do.
05. Revise the way you look at the world around you.
06. Be open-minded to new (or old!) ideas of living a positive life.
07. Stop beating yourself up about the past.
08. Don't seek happiness outside of yourself in things or people.
09. Believe you have the ability to change your own life.
10. Refuse to give up, no matter what happens or what people say.
Each point is covered in-depth on Positively Present if you are interested in a more full understanding of each element on the to-do list. Many of the entries over the last year or so have provided the catalyst for new perspectives and refreshed approaches. Of the list above, I make every effort to keep in balance any number from one through ten though to be honest, I've never managed all ten at the same time. The fun is in the journey, right?
All I know is that it takes way more energy and effort to be positive. Every once in a while I feel a slip back into the easy world of negative and snappish, it is then I remember how much work it was to leave that behind. I am always a work in progress. I am just happy I am now a (mostly) positive one.
