To all of those who thought I was crazy on Facebook late last week - I found my transparencies and the album - in my ironing basket (the safest place in the house!). I have to say, I'm thrilled to have provided my friend Melanie a chuckle :) After a marathon sitting, the album is done. Done, photographed, uploaded, cropped, organized and uploaded again! I'm sharing a few of my favourite pages here. In order to see the whole thing, the album is over there to the right >>> or click here: December Daily 2010.
Let me know what you think!
OBSERVATIONS (also known as notes for next year!):
- The initial plan was to have a SIMPLE album. This was by no means a simple album as I got distracted shopping my stash. Who knew I had so much Christmas stuff? This album turned into a BRICK it was so thick: 8'x6' is the page size, but the height is 4"!
- I don't know that I'm a fan of the transparencies. I'm happy to have found a use for all of those I was able to find in my stash - and they are not going to be replaced. I feel relieved that they are no longer taking up pretty space on my studio shelf. Organized is nice, but used is better!
- I like that this ended up being a photo-centric project as opposed to a journaled project. There is enough information on each day entry to jog our memories, but not so much that it's a chore to read through it all.
- I'm glad I purchased the Ali Edwards pages and overlays, but I think I'll change the size next year to something larger: 8x8 or 8.5x11.
- Maybe I should change things up a bit: add in black and white or some sepia photos. Oh, the ideas are spinning now that the project is finished. I'm all fired up to start another one. That's a good sign :)
- There are a few things I'd like to learn how to do for myself in PSE: like to figure out how to add a page border - you know, a thin line that just goes around the page about 1/4" from the edge and I'm still a bit of a resolution/size dummy. I have to figure it out.
- I have to shop more purposefully on those rare occasions I find myself in a scrapbook store. I found stuff in bins and boxes I had no idea I had!
- As organized as I thought I was at the beginning of the project, I wasn't even close!
- Do not put the album together in one marathon sitting. Create one week at a time, photo, upload, share and keep going. To put it together, all of it, after it's done and January calling was a tough thing to do. And, do not lose the album - find a home and leave it there before, during and after the process :)
All in all, creating my very first December Daily was a great experience. I expected it would be as, thus far, those Ali Edwards developed projects I've participated in have proven to be rewarding.
