ELEMENTS OF SUMMER: Molly Irwin has created a gorgeous 4x6 card album to collect her stories this summer. She wanted to spend more time outside and engaged than inside on the computer and has created a format to facilitate her vision. She calls her album part journal, part sketchbook and part photo essay and claims it came together quickly and effortlessly. Ah, to make things look that good with little effort! Testament to her talent, indeed!
As I outlined in one of my previous Stories of Summer entries, I've already put together the "bones" of my summer album, but I'm thrilled to have a few new ideas from Molly to incorporate into what I already have. My album is equally portable but larger - those of you who know me know I love enlargements and I'm really finding my eyes are not what they once were and it's easier to read 8.5x11 than 4x6 format anything!
I'm also, surprisingly, not fully engaged in Molly's idea only because I tend to avoid "senses" projects. I am olfactory challenged and have never had a sense of smell. You don't miss what you don't have, but to have a project on the four senses really doesn't appeal. You know what I mean? Though, I will run off her senses cards - one for each of the kids and have them participate!
So, as I often do, I will incorporate the brilliance I can and leave the rest. Don't you do the same? I really enjoy projects that are left open to interpretation. Molly, like Ali and others, is wonderful at sharing such goodness.
What about you? Are you participating in Stories of Summer over at Ali Edwards blog? Have you found any ideas that jump at you and make you want to participate?
