Who knew when my sister Andrea moved to town with her family, part of her entourage included birds. THREE of them!
Claire and Cole are totally enamoured with them.
Well one of them. The yellow one.
Now they're killing me with constant requests for birds. OMG. Save me. No pets!
I might lend Claire and Cole out to bird-sit. But no way are we going to have a bird, or hamster, or turtle, or guinea pig, or dog, or goldfish, or gecko. Funny, no request for a cat.
No to all of it!
BUT a big YES to having my sister and her family here in town. I'm so thrilled to have family close by. In 15 years of marriage, Louis and I have never been in the same town as any family member and it is such a thrill. When they moved back from Chicago they could have chosen any community in the GTA and I'm so happy they chose to be in the burbs with us! I can watch over her house when they head on holiday, she can have an emergency contact invested in her family, I can give them the name of the best Chinese take-out in town (I did that first thing!), she can support Cole's fundraisers, I can babysit and give them a night out. Who am I kidding. Claire or Cole can :)
The comfort and trust that is part of being part of a family makes her being here a joy and a relief, a comfort I didn't realize I was missing until she arrived.
