I have been reading Katherine Center's newest book: Get Lucky, it is my "wait in the parking lot" book this month. In it one of the characters makes a comfort list and while reading KC's blog this week, she wrote out her own comfort list. Which lead me to wonder what would my list look like ... today. So, here it is. I'm sure it will change next week, or even tomorrow, but right now, this is what brings me comfort:
- The first sip of coffee in the morning
- Folded laundry - and an empty washer and dryer.
- Talking to the olders on our way to school in the morning.
- Sitting out by the lake before a storm.
- A clean house - top to bottom.
- A list with a bunch of lines indicating completed chores!
- The sound of my children laughing with each other.
- Flipping the pillow to the cold side.
- Having enough hot water for a shower.
- Miso soup.
- Creating and caring for my container plants.
- Flip flops.
- Joking around with the youngers.
- Super comfy blue pajama bottoms.
- Researching and writing.
- CBS Sunday Morning, uninterrupted.
- Walking with my iPod and listening to a Ted podcast.
- Hours spent in my studio making layouts.
- Playing cribbage and having someone else figure out the score.
- Silence.
- Making it to the right rink, with all the equipment and player, on time.
- Foot massages.
- My super long black knit duster sweater I refuse to "retire".
- Hugging and snuggling with my kids.
- Watching my children engaging with their friends, classmates and teammates.
- Flipping through massive art, photography and travel books.
- Skimming through blogs (with my newly discovered "next" button!)
- Carrot cake.
- Fireplace roaring, low light, a good book and a glass of wine.
- Who am I kidding? A glass of wine!
In what do you find comfort? Have you ever made a list. I never have and I'm thrilled that even with these 30 items I could keep writing. Validation of my constant state of contentment ... sigh :)
