Every once in a while I get discouraged that I don't get enough done, enough created, enough written, enough made, enough enough. You know, the see-and-touch, tangible evidence of what I love to do. I have great creative goals, take a silly number of courses, cameras lugged, hours are spent making notes and mulling ideas; but often I feel like I just don't get enough done.
I have managed to create a schedule that should have me at least feeling more productive (I'll post about that later). I realized the problem is I start off enthusiastic in the morning sure that I will accomplish a ton then life gets in the way! My day begins by getting kids off to school, breakfast made, laundry done, blogs posted, a half hour of walking then it's studio time. Then the phone rings, the doorbell rings, the e-mail goes crazy, lunch is missed, forgot to sharpen skates and run out to get that done, or some other forgotten or new errand. By the time I remember what I was doing it is time to pick up the kids, go to activities, wash stinky hockey gear, do a school project, get homework done, or any multitude of evening happenings.
While I'm thinking of it, to my work-outside-the-home friends: kudos. Wow. I don't know how I could get it all done and hold down a job. The fact that you do, every day, with style even, wow.
You are amazing.
Anyway, while I was trying to settle into my first day back at "work" after the holidays, I decided to start by getting the studio put back in order. What a disaster. I hadn't been down there in almost two weeks! What was I thinking? Note to self: clean up after each project (easier said than done, I know).
While I was greeted with chaos, I was also greeted by a pile of layouts. Evidence of my creativity. Evidence of my everyday life.
It made me feel so good to know that so much of myself was put on those pages. Most have been uploaded so you're welcome to take a look in my gallery. Going through all of these layouts really made me feel good. Made me feel calm and pleased that there was some productivity last year. (I also found evidence of some crappy products that don't hold up - won't be buying them again!)
So now I have another project: put them all in my lovely American Crafts 12" D-Ring albums purchased for just that purpose, and start filling up the now-empty-bookshelves in the family room.
But first, I want to make some layouts. I need to create something.
