I am a huge fan of Seth Godin. Not only is he a wonderful business mentor, in a virtual kind of way, he is thoroughly engaging and makes even the most complex thought process accessible - even to me, a simple suburban housewife. All of his "business" questions are simple "live life" questions; all stories and lessons applicable not just to business in the boardroom, but the business of living your life: raising kids, negotiating with school administration, dealing with cruel parent coaches, dealing with the minefield which is adolescence. His insight is applicable on every level. Everything broken down to be applied. All motivating and challenging.
Now isn't that the sign of a good communicator, a good teacher?
I love learning from Seth. I do so every day.
Last Tuesday, he asked the following questions:
- Who are you trying to please?
- What are you promising?
- How much money are you trying to make?
- How much freedom are you willing to trade for opportunity?
- What are you trying to change?
- What do you want people to say about you?
- Which people?
- Do we care about you?
Wow, what a great group of questions. As I embark on a new journey, one I've spent the last six months or so working upon, these questions are perfect. The perfect exit and entrance interview :)
(I've answered all of the questions, but I won't post. Not quite nervy enough, yet.)
Rachelle, aka Magpie Girl, started *8 Things to quiet her "monkey mind"
and I embrace it for much the same reason: therapy! If you're looking
for a place to keep your lists, you might want to consider *8 Things.
